Coach Compliance & Certification Instructions

Thank you for volunteering to coach with Central Whidbey Soccer Club!

We truly appreciate your time, energy, and willingness to support our players and community. Before stepping onto the field, there are a few required steps that must be completed. These requirements are mandated by Washington Youth Soccer and help ensure a safe environment for all players.

Important: Please complete these steps in order

Step 1 — Complete Your Required Certifications FIRST

Before registering as a coach in Sports Connect, you must complete your required certifications through the U.S. Soccer Learning Center:

🔗 U.S. Soccer Learning Center:
https://learning.ussoccer.com

You will need to complete:

  • SafeSport Certification
  • Intro to Safety Course
(This course includes both Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest requirements.)

Important

Please be sure to save or download copies of your completed certificates, as you may need to upload them during your volunteer registration.

Step 2 — Register as a Volunteer Coach

Once your certifications are complete, log in to your Sports Connect account on the Central Whidbey Soccer Club website.

Then:

  • Go to the Volunteer tab
  • Select the age group you wish to coach
  • Complete and submit your volunteer registration

Important

You may be asked to upload proof of your completed certifications, so please have your certificates ready before starting registration.

Step 3 — Complete Your Risk Management Application (RMA)

After registering as a volunteer coach, you will need to complete your Risk Management Application (RMA), which includes your background check.

To do this:

  • Return to the Volunteer section on the CWSC website
  • Locate your compliance items
  • Select or complete the item related to Risk Status / Risk Management
  • Follow the prompts to submit

Important

⚠️ Do NOT pay for a background check through the U.S. Soccer website.
Your background check must be completed through Washington Youth Soccer / Sports Connect as part of your volunteer registration process.

Step 4 — Allow Time for Processing

Once submitted, your certifications and background check may take a few days to process and appear in the system.

If something does not appear correctly, please reach out and we can help troubleshoot.
